Chip is right. The viewers of Jon Stewart’s The Daily Show, MSNBC, ABC News, etc. are all much better informed than us kooks who watch Fox News when it comes to the liberal slant on politicized issues.
Back in May 2011 Tim Dickinson of Rolling Stone made good use of those vaunted scientific studies and reported the following:
“According to recent polls, Fox News viewers are the most misinformed of all news consumers. They are 12 percentage points more likely to believe the stimulus package caused job losses, 17 points more likely to believe Muslims want to establish Shariah law in America, 30 points more likely to say that scientists dispute global warming, and 31 points more likely to doubt President Obama’s citizenship. In fact, a study by the University of Maryland reveals, ignorance of Fox viewers actually increases the longer they watch the network. That’s because Ailes isn’t interested in providing people with information, or even a balanced range of perspectives. Like his political mentor, Richard Nixon, Ailes traffics in the emotions of victimization.”
Dickinson reported that Fox News viewers are the most misinformed of all consumers because they "are 12 percentage points more likely to believe the stimulus package caused job losses." So the stimulus package, according to conventional wisdom on the left and this dude working at Rolling Stone, has worked like a charm. It’s creating jobs left and right out here. The unemployment rate is dropping like a rock.
There must be jobs popping up all over the place, because this guy says that Fox News viewers are the most misinformed of all news consumers - they are 12 points more likely to believe the stimulus package caused job losses.
Never mind the fact that it did. The stimulus package not only caused job losses, it continues to cause job losses. The stimulus package is killing the US private sector. It is diminishing it at the expense of government. Government is growing. The private sector is not. And yet the conventional wisdom is that the stimulus worked. It had to work because it's Obama's plan.
But people that watch Fox, they actually believe that the stimulus package has caused job loss. Can you believe that? Fran, you and I are such idiots. A scientific study says so! The private sector is doing just fine.
Fox News viewers "are 17 points more likely to believe Muslims want to establish Shariah Law in America." Yeah, did you know that Muslims in America want no part of Sharia? Are you aware that Muslims in America have no interest in Islam? Rolling Stone knows that. Chip and Rolling Stone readers know full well that Muslims in America have no desire for Islam even though Sharia law is Islam and Islam is Sharia Law. But Fox News viewers are the kooks and the dangers.
Fox News viewers, the most misinformed of all news consumers "are 30 points more likely to say that scientists dispute global warming." Well, that by golly is a fact.
That’s because it’s a fact that there are scientists who dispute global warming. One of them is Dr. Roy Spencer who used to work at NASA and the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Pat Michaels is another. There are many scientists who dispute manmade global warming
However, we kooks who watch Fox News are mistaken when we say that scientists dispute global warming. Apparently Chip, Rolling Stone, and the authors of those “scientific” studies think that there's a hundred percent agreement that manmade global warming is real and that every scientist believes in it.
So let’s check out Rolling Stone’s conclusion: "In fact, a study by the University of Maryland reveals, ignorance of Fox viewers actually increases the longer they watch the network. That’s because Ailes isn’t interested in providing people with information, or even a balanced range of perspectives. Like his political mentor, Richard Nixon, Ailes traffics in the emotions of victimization."
Yeah, it seems that the president of the Fox News Channel does not want his viewers to be informed. He's lying to us. He's turning us into zombies who actually believe that Muslims want to establish Sharia law in America. He’s turning us into idiots who think that the stimulus bill hasn’t created any private sector jobs. And he’s made us believe that there are scientists who don't believe in manmade global warming.
Yep, we are sorely misinformed by Fox News.
We should switch to ABC News where they get their facts straight.

How can there be” scientific studies” of who is uninformed? What hogwash! Who defines informed?
Excuse me! All your answers come from googling? You trust Google to give you all your answers? Don’t believe anything you read, and only half of what you hear!
That baloney about tea partyers is concocted by lying liberals, like Stephanopoulos and Brian Ross. The tea partyers are non-violent. If you watched Fox News and listened to Rush Limbaugh you would have the truth!

I accept this.
But it is not typical.
If you want to challenge me on this topic, there are at least 6 scientific studies that show fox viewers to be more uninformed or wrongly informed of world news. There are no conflicting studies showing otherwise. Even Jon Stewart, a comedy show, ranks higher in informed viewers. Stewart, incidentally, skewered Brian Ross last night on his show.
Also, tea baggers bring it on themselves with all kinds of gun-centric rhetoric.

A typical example of down-dirty liberals jumping to false conclusions before they have the facts.

Dear Fran,
Now, in the wake of the horrific shooting in Aurora, the liberal media once again rushed to smear us, falsely and before the facts were in.
ABC’s Brian Ross, with the full blessing of the former Bill Clinton staffer turned “journalist” George Stephanopoulos, attempted to link Friday’s shooting in Colorado to a Tea Party member. Incredibly, Ross relayed this information even as he admitted that he had not verified the shooter’s identity!
Within hours, we learned that the shooter was NOT a Tea Party member. But the damage was already done.
What’s most chilling about this incident isn’t the shoddy reporting, which we’ve become used to. It’s the fact that the first thing ABC did upon learning the shooter’s name was to scour a Tea Party website in search of a connection.
The Tea Party member falsely identified as a mass murderer on national television has had his life turned upside down because of the extreme left wing views of the liberal media. It fits so perfectly with their view of the Tea Party as a band of violent extremists, Ross and Stephanopolous never questioned why a Tea Party member would do this or hesitated to announce to the world that they had tracked him down.
Occasionally, the mask slips and the liberal media reveal just what they think of patriotic conservative Americans, and this was one of those times. They believe that we are angry, violent and dangerous extremists.
In the most deplorable and defamatory act of politicization since the Tucson shooting, ABC News first priority was to link the mass murder in Colorado to grassroots conservative activists.
How sick, how twisted, that ABC News’ first instinct was to determine if a peaceful conservative organization might be to blame for this unspeakable tragedy?
ABC News showed its true colors, humiliating itself and slandering all conservatives in the process.
The liberal media look for every opportunity to slander patriotic conservative Americans as violent extremists. In doing so, they prove that they don’t care about the truth. Their overriding goal is to destroy conservatives in hopes that it will help President Obama’s reelection effort.
This is what ABC News thinks of you. Let everyone know what you think of THEM by getting your free “Don’t Believe the Liberal Media!” bumper sticker.
The disgraceful leftwing zealots who dominate the national “news” media are completely out of control. If that wasn’t obvious before, it should be crystal clear now. They are out to destroy conservatives by whatever means necessary.
Please forward this message to your friends and family so that they too can play an active role in countering the liberal media’s malicious anti-conservative propaganda.
Thank you for helping us keep the pressure on the out-of-control liberal media!
